“Quando nascette Ninno” is a 17th century Neapolitan folk carol which I have set for dueling male/female choirs. The tune is quite lovely, and I’m convinced that Handel stole the melody for "And He shall feed his flock" straight from this carol. Not that anybody would have minded then - in the 18th century plagiarism was considered to be the highest form of compliment, and there were no copyright rules.
